The grand national celebration at Port Said University featured a comprehensive artistic and cultural program that highlighted the diversity and richness of student activities, reaffirming the university’s role in nurturing intellectual, cultural, and emotional development.
The program included two choral performances: the first by Port Said University Solo Orchestra, conducted and trained by Prof. Dr. Tarek Ghandour and Assistant Prof. Dr. Walid Anani; and the second by the Port Said University Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Dr. Hossam Gamal El-Din, Head of the Music Education Department at the Faculty of Specific Education. In addition, a performance by Port Said University Ensemble for Religious Chants, led by Prof. Dr. Josephine Fawzy, was presented.
The artistic segment featured a ballet performance by Port Said girls from the Victoria Otkin Troupe, a dynamic show by the World Arts and Peace Festival choreographed and directed by artist Amr Agamy, and the theatrical production “Noah’s Doves”, written and directed by artist Mohamed El-Maliki.
The play portrayed a symbolic journey of a mother searching for her son, drawing inspiration from the heroism of Port Said during the 1956 resistance.
In a deeply moving scene, the performance dramatically linked the character Gawad Hosny with the martyr Amr El-Saqqa, one of Port Said’s martyrs in the fight against terrorism in Sinai. The moment reached its emotional peak when the martyr’s mother presented his military uniform, which received official recognition from state leaders.
The program also included poetry readings and distinguished performances by students with disabilities, reflecting the university’s commitment to inclusion. Participating student poets included Lamis Islam (first year), Basant Ahmed (Faculty of Arts), and Fatima Alaa (Faculty of Commerce, fourth year).
The celebration further featured an open dialogue session for international students, moderated by Assist Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yasser and Dr. Amal Hal, highlighting the university’s cultural diversity and regional and international openness.
The event also spotlighted the university’s leading health initiatives, notably “Your Pulse Is Life” and “Your Health Is Your Decision,” underscoring Port Said University’s dedication to the holistic well-being of its students.
The celebration was organized and coordinated under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yasser, Pharmaceutic department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Assist Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bayoumi, Supervisor of Student Activities, with the support of teams across Port Said University. The event concluded in an atmosphere of national pride, unity, and human connection.
